Our virtual display at Livadia Palace, 05.09.2017

Tsarskoe Selo and the Livadia Palace have launched an intermuseum project, with a virtual tour of our permanent display The Romanovs at Tsarskoe Selo now available to visitors of the former Romanov residence in Crimea.

Set in the House of Baron Frederiks near the Livadia Palace, the large tablets with touchscreen displays allow for the visitor to virtually walk through the rooms in the Catherine Palace housing the permanent display dedicated to the crowned owners of Tsarskoe Selo from Elizabeth Petrovna to Nicholas II.

The virtual tour offers panoramic views of the rooms, with detailed descriptions of each object zoomed into, and videos about each of the monarchs.

According to Director Olga V. Taratynova of Tsarskoe Selo, this project is the first step in implementating a cooperation agreement signed by the two museums in 2014. Our museums are connected by many things, especially the name and the tragic fate of the last Russian emperor, who was very fond of the Alexander Palace at Tsarskoe Selo and the palace in Livadia.  The project will be followed by other virtual tours, a digital library, on-the job training, as well as joint research, publications, exhibitions, seminars and conferences.

The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea.            Click pictures above and below to enlarge them
