2017 was good, 09.01.2018

We are summing up our achievements and best acquisitions in 2017, which was yet another year of a greater visitor flow with nearly 3.9 million tickets sold (almost 200,000 more than in 2016).

Top Achievements

- Our exhibition Tsarskoe Selo 1917: on the eve… wins in the Exhibition of the Year category at the 2017 Museum Olympus (click the link to read more and click the pictures below to enlarge them).

- Completion of our permanent WWI display at the Martial Chamber (click the link to read more and click the pictures below to enlarge them).

- Restoration of a decorative portal in the Lyons Hall of the Catherine Palace (click the link to read more and click the pictures below to enlarge them).

- Restoration of bridges in the Alexander Park (click the link to read more and click the pictures below to enlarge them).

- Progressing restoration of the Palace Church (Catherine Palace Chapel), the Imperial Farm and the Chapelle pavilion (click the link to read more and click the pictures below to enlarge them).

Top Acquisitions

- The Romanov family archive (click the link to read more and click the pictures below to enlarge them).

- More pieces of the Raphael Service (click the link to read more and click the pictures below to enlarge them).

- Tree books from the historic library of Tsarskoe Selo by Jean-Pierre-Louis de Luchet, Jean-Baptiste Capefigue and Johann Joachim Eschenburg (the latter two from the Library of the Alexander Palace) (click the links to read more and click the pictures below to enlarge them).

Top Resolutions for 2018

- Reopening of some of the Alexander Palace halls for visiting by the end of the year.

- Commemoration of the St Petersburg suburban residences turned museums’ centenary with academic conferences, themed lectures (at the Alexandrinsky Theatre New Stage’s media centre), art  festivals, cultural events and  a joint exhibition (at the St Petersburg Manege) by Tsarskoe Selo, Gatchina, Pavlovsk and Peterhof.
