Centenary of Romanov family execution, 17.07.2018

One hundred years ago, on the night of 16-17 July 1918, the last Russian imperial family — Emperor Nicholas II, Empress Alexandra, Grand Duchesses Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia and Tsesarevich Alexei together with their close servants — were executed by the Bolsheviks in Yekaterinburg.

A photograph of the last tsar’s family and tribute flowers are placed in the Great Hall of the Catherine Palace in remembrance of the tragedy.

Some of the turbulent events of that period are covered by our exhibition Tsarskoe Selo 1917: on the eve…, which is dedicated to the last months of Nicholas II’s family at the Alexander Palace and also commemorates the 100th anniversary of Tsarskoe Selo as a museum.
