The Dressing Room of Nicholas II

A mid-sized cosy service room of Nicholas II’s right-hand suite, the Dressing Room was next to the Tsar’s Bathroom. Ashwood wardrobes along the walls held the Emperor’s clothes: a few hundreds of frock-coats, overcoats, Guard and Army Regiment uniforms, as well as shirts, underwear, shoes, and other items. There hung the Colonel’s uniform of His Majesty's Hussar Regiment that the Emperor wore at his wedding and the deer fur coat he wore for hunting. When Nicholas II received foreign ambassadors, ministers and diplomats, he usually wore their countries’ uniforms and sometimes had to change six times a day.

Only several wardrobes of the Dressing Room’s furnishings have survived.
